Art, archeology, and the ‘neolithic package,’ with Greg Slick
![]()
Greg Slick’s paintings, drawings and sculpture reflect a fascination with late stone age art. In this interview he shares childhood memories of neolithic ruins and how their “muteness” provided fodder for his creative practice.
Greg also discusses the galleries that cropped up in Beacon in the years after Dia:Beacon opened and assesses the Hudson Valley’s art scene today. Greg was the co-owner of a celebrated gallery, Go North (2006-2009), and his wife Karlyn Benson operated her own gallery, Matteawan (2013-2018).

An interesting and insightful talk. I learned more deeply about and Greg and his beautiful art practice.
Really excellent presentation and both revealing and articulate Beaconite interview with Greg Slick. Thoroughly enjoyable and informative. Thank you for passing it bye this way. Looking forward to Greg’s forthcoming solo and artist talk at Garrison Art Center. See you there.
